Along with traveling, quotes are a huge love of mine. So, I thought, why not combine the two? Here are five of my personal favorites. I hope they inspire you as much as they inspire me!

1. “To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, To gain all while you give, To roam the roads of lands remote, To travel is to live.” ~ Hans Christian Andersen

I actually stumbled upon this quote while walking through an airport terminal recently. Hans Christian Andersen, poet and novelist is easy to draw inspiration from. His fairy tale, “The Little Mermaid” comes to mind and I can’t help but want to explore “under the sea”. But, to Hans’ there’s obviously more to explore than that. Swim, float, walk, run, breathe, fly; living is moving and moving encorporates travel.

I don’t know about you, but I want to live and live abundantly!

2. “Once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward. For there you have been and there you long to return.” ~ Leonardo da Vinci

I absolutely love to fly. Airlplanes are incredible to me. Just think, you are sitting in a chair practically floating on thin air, over 10,000 feet above ground, in a machine that is being lead by a man you have (most likely) never met…

When I put it that way it may seem a little scary, but what’s traveling without a little adventure, right? And like we all love to say, “It’s about the journey, not the destination” (there, I even threw in a little extra quote for you).

I also think your perspective of the sky isn’t the only thing that changes when you sit above the clouds that you normally look up to.

Do you like flying? Or is there some other way of transportation you prefer?

3.”The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page.”

Ahh, perspective. This is definitely one of my favorite things about traveling. There are so many cultures and traditions and things I haven’t even discovered the names for yet; things that only travel can reveal. There’s something to be said about reading a book on a country/city/people, but to go out and experience it is a whole new world.

What makes the traveling community so special as well is the fact that we read a multitude of pages in this book we call “the world” and the more we read, the more we want to learn, which creates a more open mind. We’re not interested in our own little home inside our minds; not that we don’t appreciate it, but we just know the world is so much bigger than our little lives.

4. “We travel because we need to, because distance and difference are the secret tonic to creativity. When we get home, home is still the same, but something in our minds has changed and that changes every thing.”

Have you ever traveled to a remote land where the way of life is just so much different to how you live at home and when you return home, it’s almost like a reverse culture shock? Some people have a hard time with this transition. It can either scar you and leave you shaken up, angry or bitter, or it can motivate you to make a change. Maybe that change is simply a change of attitude and an appreciation for the life you’ve been given.

Either way, I hope every travel experience gets those creative wheels turning for you!

5. “Traveling – It leaves you speachless, then turns you into a storyteller.” ~Ibn Battuta

I end with this quote, because if you are reading this post, then you most likely have a desire to travel. Maybe you don’t have the money or the means or even simply an opportunity. Or maybe you have it all.

Whatever your experience, never forget that you are a storyteller, but you also have a story of your own.

Your life matters; whether you’ve roamed the roads of lands remote, tasted flight, read the whole book, or have simply just made a hobby of staying at home and reading random blogs… You have a story to tell.

Whatever you choose, go put a little more joy in this world!
